Situation: In a hamlet (coulée des fourches) situated about 700 m from the village (Thorame haute), on small tarmac and not steep road, next to a brook. It is a completely detached house on a large piece of land. It is however not isolated since the hamlet includes other residences with neighbours living all year round.

Shops in the village (Thorame haute) : Butcher's and grocer's, baker's , 2 bars, hotel & restaurant, post office (booth outside) B&Bs. Supermarket at Villars-colmars (8km) Doctor & chemist's at Colmars les alpes (10 km)

Thorame haute railway station is 6km from the house. Nice-Digne railway line (Train des pignes), with several stops a day at Thorame in summer, with other stops at other very picturesque villages : Annot, Méailles Puget-Thénier, Entreveaux, etc ...

Ski resorts : Val d'allos includes 2 winter resorts : Le seignus 18 km, la foux 22 km. Very good cross-country skiing on the village itself , 7km from the house, at la Colle st Michel, or in Rattery (12 km) 

In winter : The resorts can be reached easily, by a mainly straight  road, always cleared even in cold and snowy conditions. Parking next to the lifts and ticket offices is never a problem. Regular shuttles take you from Thorame haute to the tracks and back several times a day. Bus stop : 700m from the house. You can ask the driver to stop right in front of the house on the way back.

And don't forget ! Cross-country skiing can be practised on the village itself,  only 7kmf rom the house

 

Renting terms : The 2 appartments can be rented separately or the whole house all year long. Prices vary according to the period,  and appartment(s) rented.

The rates indicated below are for a one-week stay or a weekend.  Electricity is not included

About the rates : They're lower to those prevailing at the 2 resorts for much smaller apts where the living room includes one or 2 beds and cannot be used for the evening by those who don't feel like going to bed too early. Here you enjoy a "real" home with large bedrooms and an authentic ding/living room with a mantelpiece, where you can stay up without disturbin those who have chosen to sleep early. Furthermore, the terrace gives out onto a large field where the kids can play. The house is ideally located for those who are looking for an authentic village mountain atmosphere

Description : Old farm, built in traditional local style which has been entirely restored and furnished in country style and equipped with modern appliances. All the walls are panelled in wood. The house is composed of 2 independant apartments that can be rented separately ot together

Ground-floor apartment : (photos => )

100m2: On 2 levels. Up to 10/12 people can sleep comfortably. Electric heating in all rooms and hot water with electric hot water tank.

Ground floor:

- 2 large rooms with a double bed each and a single bed in one of them.

- Kitchen : fridge and freezer, gas stove with oven, washing machine, country sideboard separating kitchen & living-room,  Window facing south

- Large living/dining-room with mantelpiece, dining-room corner with large country table and benches, wooden staircase leading to 1st floor. The living/dining-room faces south through a large French-window leading to a large 27 sqm terrace facing the 2000 sqm garden on south and has two other windows, one facing south, the other on the north.

- Large terrace facing south. Baker and pizza oven on the terrace.

- Bath-room with shower (no bath tub) + independant toilet

- Parking lot for 2 cars. Plenty of parking space in the street.

1st floor: 2 very large latticed rooms in mountain chalet style (wooden panelling), both of which have very big wardrobes for hanging and storing clothes.One of these rooms faces west, the other faces east.

- 1st Room : 2 double bed : 140X190cm, and 130X190 cm. 2 armchairs

- 2nd room : 1 double bunk bed 140X190 and another double bed underneath + 2 single beds

- Landing with sofa, extra large wardrobe and drawer for shoes.

Basement/garage : 40 m2 which can be reached from the linving-room(staircase leading downstairs) Entrance to the garage which, like the bedsitter faces another garden on the southern side of the house. Large storing space for skis, bikes, camping gear, prams, etc ...)

Access through a French window facing north or through the garage or from the living-room upstairs through the second flight of stairs mentioned above (only if the whole house is rented by the same group, otherwise the occupants of the bed sitter and of the main apartment have keys enabling them to be completely independant from the other apartment). Electric heating and hot water.

The bedsitter is at garden level, like the garage. It is equipped for 4 pax, possibly 5 (a convertible sofa can be used as an extra bed for a child). It is decorated in country style, with exposed wooden beams and panelling on ceiling and tiles on floor.

- Kitchen/living &dining-room : the kitchen and the living/sleeping-room corners are separated by a bar (working surface on top and shelves underneath for storing space.)

- living-room/sleeping-room corner : It faces north through a large French- window leading to a 400 sqm garden and a small tiled terrace where it is possible to eat in summer and to have barbecues. The large 3000 sqm field facing north can be used when the main appartment is not rented or occupied at the same time.

The living/sleeping-room corner includes :

* 1 convertible double bed for plenty of space during the day + 2 single bunk beds

* 1 convertible table (sitting 4/5 pax) 5 chairs, convertible sofa (sitting 2) that can be used as an extra signle bed for a child.

* cupboard and hanging space

- Kitchen corner with window facing west and bar with shelves separating the kitchen and living-room/sleeping-room corners. Storage space and working surface. It is equipped with the necessary kitchen ustensils for 4/5 pax and the following appliances :

- Frige and freezer,

- Washing-machine

- Gas cooker with oven

- Bath-room (shower) entirely tiled with large cupboard. Hot water with electric hot water tank

- Independant toilet with window.

- Large garage (see description above, plenty of storage space for bikes, skis, etc ...) that can be shared with other occupants of the ground-floor apartment. Garden table and chairs are available.The garage can be accessed from inside the house, through the bedsitter, without having to go outside.
